Week 26: 24 hr drive to Dallas

Week 26

The move to Dallas!

Sunday: Drive to Idaho Falls for the pup-pickup.

Monday: Leave in the am with Deidre and Drogo in tow. My momma came along to help me with an all-nighter drive. My mom was always super concerned about my teeny preggo bladder and I was way more concerned with having quick and efficient gas/potty stops. So there was a lot of, "No, you go! I'll do this, blah blah blah" because of our differing priorities. Mostly, the drive was uneventful. I made a playlist full of music I knew we both would enjoy that was meant to last the entire 22hr drive. A herd of tumbleweed and fleet of UFOs tried to take us down in Kansas but there was no stopping us!

Tuesday: We drove all night so because I had to be in the apartment for the cable/internet installation (which had to happen ASAP for my work at home job) at 8am Tuesday. We rolled into the apartment complex around 730 (because we are awesome) VERY tired and absolutely silly. The guy came and I spent all morning on the phone getting things set up for work while Deids took a nap. We ate some lunch and I finally snuck in a nap while my mom took a shower. Pretty soon Kaio was home and we spent the night galavanting across town (mostly just at Target).

Wednesday: We did a lot. But I'm having trouble remembering all of it... We unpacked quite a bit. We went to IKEA and Best Buy and Walmart and probably some other places as well. Once Kaio joined up with us, we thought we would try out a quick little trip to Babies R Us. Up to this point, I have been very overwhelmed with the sheer amount of strollers, carseats, etc. there are! Too many options! Not enough information!!! Turns out though, my husband knows it all! He is 3rd of nine kids and is a lot more versed in the baby supplies than me (4th of 4). We had the carseat and stroller picked out in no time! WOAH. Just like that! And now it feels like we have EVERYTHING! (Which is know is a big fat lie but all the big scary complicated super important things are done so it feels like it all)

Thursday: Deidre and I ran a few more errands before I had to take her to her flight home. One of them was to take a tour at the birth center I will be going to shortly. It was so fun! A woman had had her baby only a few hours before and she was kind enough to let the tour pass through and let us see how well they were all doing. It was adorable! Fresh little 3hr old baby! We sat altogether and the CNM answered all our questions. It was a great experience and made me really excited about my choice in going there!

Friday: Recovery and missing my momma! Unpacking. Some serious baby kicking. I also realized that when I wake up at night to go piddle that I have started waddling. yaaaaaay.

Saturday: Kaio didn't have to work! Yay! So we took naps. And I don't really remember the rest.

Sunday: The new ward was friendly! And there are a bunch of adorable elderly people! I just want to be their best friend!!!!

(Monday): First day of work! Scary but it went really well!

Week 25: End of Hotel life

Week 25

Last week in the hotel. The most notable skill I gained from living in a hotel was accurately predicted when the hot fresh cookie plate would be available in the lobby. Oh yeah. But, to prevent me from gaining an unnecessary zillion pounds, I exercised and didn't eat a (million) cookie(s) everyday.

Not just a cookie bump!
Some big news from this week: I got a job! I have a wonderful friend(who is family too :) who helped me get a great work from home job. It relieved a lot of worry that comes from trying to find a job every few months when we move. They don't care where I live! Yay! (PS If you are looking for a work from home job, message me and I can give you a referral).

I spent a good amount of time stalking my husband. It is a lot more fun to stalk people that you know won't be creeped out.

So I just get an exasperated head shake rather than a restraining order when I send this picture to him with the caption "cute bum".

Week 24: Hotel life and baby kicks

Week 24

Hotel living.

It was hard to leave the little pup behind with my parents. He already has separation anxiety and I don't want him to feel like he has been abandoned. But he loves my mom so maybe he won't notice that I am gone. The worst was the drive back to Colorado without him. So lonely! He always just cuddles up on my lap and takes a nap the whole way. Awwwwwwww.

No teddybear cuddles this week! :(

But living in a hotel hasn't been too bad. Our room seems like it is kind of meant to be an over-flow for a meeting room that is across the hall so it is extra spacious. We have a long counter with an extra sink and mini fridge that we have been using for a make-shift kitchen. Just a little longer and we will be on our way to Texas! Yay!

Best part of this week: I have been trying for some time to get Kaio to feel our baby kick. So far, I had only been able to feel it inside and Kaio couldn't tell with his hand on my belly. Finally, last night I had my hand on my tummy and I felt her kick on the outside! AAAAAND I got Kaio to wait long enough for her to kick again. It was cute. "Aw, I felt the baby!" Cute.

Week 23: We are moving. Always moving.

Week 23

MOVING! AGAIN!
Aww. The family. (See the orange bottle of glucose? It taunts me everyday)

So we are in transition again! This is us packing for the move that will ultimately get us to Dallas. We are going to have a little bit of a floating period before we get there, so after I did as much as I could to help pack, I took the doggie with me for a visit to my parents in Idaho. Mostly so they could puppysit him until we knew when we would be in Dallas (but also as a fun excuse to get away and see them before we were gonna live REAL far away, not just 10hrs).

Pregnant moment from the move: I'm making lists of where things go and all that.
Me: "Kaio, what is that tall light thing in the bedroom called?"

Kaio: "The lamp."
Me:

I showed up to my parents' house and they were again disappointed to see no real bump showing up. Yeah, me too. But the next morning, BAM! Baby bump! I think it was the awesome comfy mattress topper on the bed but Deidre claims it is because the baby wanted to say hi to grandma! ...probably both true! ;)

It was such a fun trip. My momma helped me get a lot of things done (including my GD test), I had time to relax and unwind, and my friends came to visit for the weekend! It was so good! So happy! And so great!

And of course, according to tradition, we went to Red Robin (maybe twice, whaaaaaa?).

Week 22: The 20 week checkup (boring, don't read)

Week 22

I finally had another doctor's appointment today! It was a triple hit too. Since this was the first (and probably last) visit to the dr in Boulder, I had the health screening with the nurse, ultrasound, and check up with the doctor all at once. ...It took four hours, but at least it was only one trip!...? Really, it was pretty boring.

The health screening was a waste really since they have all my info from the last time I did it in Springfield. The ultrasound was good. I was very grateful to see she has all the parts and is measuring exactly for her estimated due date. (But she didn't really move, and that is the real fun part!) And then I sat in the examination room waiting for the doctor for an hour. Blah. I don't mind waiting, I understand the purpose for it, but she came in, measured my belly and answered two questions. Talk about underwhelming? Couldn't I have just gone to a chat room for this? I don't hate doctor's offices, I just didn't even want to go at all here since I knew we would be leaving again soon. And that's just my bad attitude. Hmph.

Then after my crazy long appointment, a nurse brings out a bottle of glucose and a lab order to get my gestational diabetes test done. She all casually says, you could do it now if you want...  No. NOpe. I had been in their office all afternoon so I obviously have NOT been fasting. I have snacks in my purse for times like this. So she said okay when you are ready, fast, take the drink, and an hour later, come back to the lab. Ehhh, so get all pukey nasty and drive here? Also nope. But I just said okay, put the drink in my purse and I have ignored it since. I'm not doing it! I don't wanna!!!!!! YUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.

Where are you bump?????

Week 21: The almost ER trip

Week 21

I started an impressive physical feat this week. Heads up: it is gross. My cough/cold really picked up but the nice weather also got my allergies going as well. Every time I sneezed, I couldn't help but cough at the same time. This translated into projectile loogies. Ew. I could tell a few humorous circumstances of this but it is pretty nasty to even think about...  I don't think I need to share.

Additionally, my general under-the-weatheriness made me a slug this week. I was often disinterested in eating. Aside from the lack of appetite, it seemed like all my options were things that were going to make my throat hurt more.

One day, with out realizing it, I hardly ate at all. As the afternoon progressed into evening, my stomach was... uncomfortable. I thought it was toots. So whatever. But then Kaio came home and within the first five minutes of him being home, my stomach started to hurt so much I couldn't move. By the time he was all cleaned up from work, I was crying from the pain.

Kaio is so nice. When I couldn't decide what was wrong or what I needed, he brought me some grapes and water and then ran to walmart to get gatorade and tylenol. After about an hour and a half, (and after freaking my parents out through some scary texts!) the pain subsided and I was fine.

Whew! Scary though!
